The registration fills in the vehicle
A customer types their reg and the make and model come back from the DVSA MOT History API, so the job on your sheet names the right car.
What it does
- Make and model are fetched live from the DVSA MOT History API, the government's own record.
- OAuth tokens are cached, so a lookup does not wait on a fresh handshake every time.
- The plate field is set in the real UK plate face on the yellow ground, so it reads as a plate rather than a form field.
- Name, phone and email validate inline, with a green tick as each one passes.
- Every field can be prefilled from the URL, so an ad or an email can carry a customer most of the way in before they arrive.
A booking with the wrong car is a wasted bay
Typed vehicle details are wrong often enough to matter, and you find out when the car arrives and does not match the job. Reading the vehicle from the DVSA record removes the typing, and the customer only has to know their own number plate.
